On Friday, September 4, the University of KwaZulu Natal will host a webinar entitled: My UKZN my Heritage! The efficacy of student protests?

The webinar will tackle the issue of the university as a heritage for all stakeholders, whether students, alumni or employees.

The objects and collections that make up universities hold a wealth of information which needs to be seen as part of the greater heritage of the institution.

“Thus it is the responsibility of all stakeholders of the institution to provide a heritage-minded narrative in order to safeguard the institution for future generations,” the university said on its website.

“The Culture Cluster under the School of Social Science at the Howard College of Humanities is inviting you to an important debate on preserving our institution as our heritage by addressing the efficacy of student protests,” it said.

The webinar, which will take place between noon and 2.30pm, will be facilitated by Professor Maheshvari Naidu, with Lukhona Mnguni as guest speaker and professor Paulus Zulu as respondent.
